Volunteer Opportunities - 2011

Volunteer Application for : Wrappers, Sorter, Greeter, Bagger, Warehouseperson, Donation Pick Up Drivers & Helpers and Porters (individuals).

Wrapper


(individuals and groups of 7 or less)

Wrappers select and wrap gift packages for children up to age 12 years.

Assists sorters in receiving incoming doantions.

This is a drop-in volunteer opportunity with no scheduled shifts. 

Tuesday,Thursday, Saturday or Sundays
9am - 9pm November 15 to December 15

Group Wrapping Bees

 
(groups of 8 to 12)

Wrappers select and wrap gift packages for children up to age 12 years.

Assists sorters in receiving incoming donations.

Assists warehouse staff in replenishing supplies and ensuring wrappers have sorted toys to select from.

Scheduled shifts of  3.25 hours.

Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
9am-9pm starting November 14 to December 14

Submit a  Group Wrapping Bee Application by October 31 to be considered for the first round of scheduling. 

The high amount of applications received may mean not all applicants will recieve a shift, we will do our best to schedule as many groups as possible.
Sorter*

Sorters receive donations and sort each into the appropriate category.

* Amount of work is dependant amount of donations received each day.

Scheduled shifts with flexible lengths.  If there is an open shift a drop in wrapper may be asked to assist in this area.

Greeter The Greeter welcomes visitors,
signs in/out volunteers, receives donations and answers phone inquiries.
Scheduled shifts, flexible length

7 days per week, 9am  to  9pm
November 14 to December 21

You can come once, twice or three times a week, whatever time you have is great!  You do not have to commit to the full 5 weeks.

Bagger*

Selects wrapped gifts and bags them for individual families.

*Amount of work is dependant upon when each families request is received.

This is a drop-in volunteer opportunity with no scheduled shifts. 

9am - 9pm November 15 to December 15
Warehouseperson*

General warehouse tasks are varied.  Receive donations, assist in sorting area, ensure all other areas have supplies for their tasks, sweep warehouse, inflate sports balls and inserting batteries in toys are some of the tasks.

*Amount of work varies each day. 

This is a drop-in volunteer opportunity with no scheduled shifts.

Donation
Pick Up Driver & Helper
*

Pick up drivers collect toy donations from our bins within Edmonton and bring them to Santas main depot at 12345 121 Street.

Donation locations include shopping malls, Wal-Mart, Costco and Toys R Us stores.

Drivers are required November 14 through December 21.  Pick ups will start at once a week and progress to daily. 

Drivers may have an assigned location or be on an on-call list.  More than one driver can be assigned to each location.

*Donation pick up drivers are required to use their own vehicle, present their drivers license and insurance upon registering with Santas office.


Porters - shifts are full

(age 12 and older)

Helps delivery drivers take gifts to their vehicle on delivery day.

Receives undeliverable gifts from drivers and brings into Santas Depot.

Saturday, December 17
900 to1230pm - shift is full
noon to 330pm - shift is full
300 to 700pm - shift is full

Sunday, December 18
900 to1230pm - shift is full

Delivery Day
Drivers & Helpers

This is an all ages opportunity and is great fun for familes!

Drivers and their helpers deliver gifts to families throughout Edmonton. 

Once you have parked your vehicle bring your driver's license and insurance to the Santas Depot.  Volunteer dispatchers and porters will have you back in your vehicle and on the road in no time.

Enter our parking lot from 121 Street off Kingsway Avenue.  There will be no left turn off 121 Street into the parking lot.

Drop in, no registration required.

December 17 and 18

Dispatch starts each day at 10:00 am.  Listen to 630 CHED or iNews880 for delivery day for updates.

Driver's license and insurance must be presented.  Drivers will sign an agreement when they arrive.  There is no form to sign beforehand.
